Drum Bridge, over the River Lagan in South Belfast, Northern Ireland, on a freezing cold December evening.
I have often visited this scene, but this evening, as the sun went down, a mist descended across the water. Fortunately, some ducks swam past, but did not disturb the reflections too much.
Some people say a picture is worth a thousand words, but sometimes a picture can say something more then words can. And what can I say this is one of those photos. I love the soft contrast between the grays, blues and whites. The reflection of the trees in something unique in it own special way and the soft mist that gently strolls across the land floating calmly to the wonderfully clam winter water. The ducks just bring it together my friend, their silohettes define the winter, the hardship and the chaos they leave behind in the water shows that winter is not just about peace and tranquility.
I believe this is a amazing picture, that no language can describe. Congrats
The whole picture gives a good impression of a cold winter: the mist over the banks, the snow on the spoiled branches, just an hint of orange from the coming dusk, the reflection from the almost still water.
The ripples from the ducks make the whole scene a little more dynamic and focus the interest on the bigger tree reflection.
The time of the day chosen is almost perfect, maybe if you took the picture a little earlier the reflection would be brighter, but you'd lose the orange hints and I think the bright and dark balance is nicer this way.
Probably I'd liked better a slightly different frame (larger) since the whole scene after a while feels a bit too constrained. Still, the fist glance impact is good.
