The Lagan Rainbow scene re-processed, this time from a single shot in Capture NX 2 and Photoshop CS4.
I think this version is sharper and has better contrast and details.
A reflection of a double rainbow in the River Lagan, near Belfast, Northern Ireland.
The reflection of the second rainbow is very faintly visible in the bottom right corner.
The thin vertical streaks under the main arc are called "virga". The colours of the second fainter rainbow are in the reverse order to the main rainbow.
July 2010, I created a new sharper version of this scene:
The landscape is amazing, the colors are extremely vivid and beautiful, the rainbow is sharply defined against the sky. The grass and trees make the foreground really proeminent, but it doesn't make the rainbow appear less. The river, even though a bit dirty (because it's muddy, brown...), is not ugly; it actually harmonizes a lot the picture, because everything has the earth tones, like green, brown, etc. The blue sky with the clouds is just so beautiful, even more than it would be without clouds, it looks more real. The contrast is perfect, and the brightness too. I really can't see any flaw on the picture, as it is simply some kind of dream landscape.
